Haley, A.R.C.A., for the design on the title-page. With a further expression of gratitude, for the honour conferred on so modest a volume by the Baroness Orczy, in writing the Foreword, it remains for me only to hope that the book may prove as pleasing in the reading as it has been interesting in the preparation.

H.
